Tales of Valor instead chooses to focus on small game-refinement changes and three new multiplayer modes. The first, Opposing Fronts, offered new factions and and two fairly meaty campaigns. Additionally, the game features a new time-of-day system and new maps for players to explore. Tales of Valor is the second expansion for Relic Entertainment's widely successful RTS Company of Heroes. The maximum number of soldiers that players can have now depends on the number of strategic points with resources like gasoline and ammunition. The game has an intricate infantry control system. The third campaign, Falaise Pocket, has players control a unit of SS Panzergrenadiers stationed in the town of Trun, where they must hold the city and evacuate the American and Canadian forces. The second campaign, Causeway, follows the United States Airborne Division's attempts to secure the La Fiere causeway before allied aid arrives.
